IWD: #EmbraceEquity with Ewelina Bobrek

​​​This International Women's Day, we interviewed some of our team asking them to share their thoughts on how we can #EmbraceEquity.

Equity can be defined as giving everyone what they need to be successful. The IWD 2023 campaign theme seeks to forge worldwide understanding about why equal opportunities aren’t enough, and a focus on gender equity needs to be part of every society’s DNA.

International Women’s Day belongs to everyone, everywhere. Collectively, we can all help create a diverse, equitable and inclusive world.

#EmbraceEquity with Ewelina Bobrek, Talent Acquisition Consultant at Eames Group in the UK.

1. What is your top advice for making job descriptions more inclusive?  

I think the mindset of employers is key. Openness to people making an industry move, people coming back to work from maternity/paternity move and including that in the job descriptions.

2. What does being an effective ally for women look like to you?

Giving women a platform in which they feel comfortable sharing their experiences, being willing to listen and educating themselves on issues that effect women exclusively.

3. What advice would you give women in the industry you work in?

Apply for the job, follow up with the person who advertised it and ask questions!

4. International Women’s Day is also about celebrating women and their achievements. What woman/women inspire you?

If we’re speaking about a particular individual, I going to pick Martyna Wojciechowska, who is a Polish traveller, mountaineer, author, journalist and TV presenter, but also a single mom. She’s summited the seven summits, most of them after recovering from having broken her spine. She’s the second woman in history to have achieved that. She’s a picture of persistence, resilience and passion for her interests.

Interestingly enough, there’s a Martyna Wojciechowska Barbie Doll which was made a few years ago as part of the Barbie Sheroes doll line.
